10 examples of successful link baiting

When I just found what is linkbaiting I started seeking for more and more information about it to understand this method better and use it for promotion of my own websites. I found that most of articles about linkbaiting described just common theory and there were a very few examples of successful application of this method. But I went ahead with my investigations and found really amazing cases of link bait application. Learning them I finally understood the essence of the approach.

So now I want to show you 10 examples of successful link baiting to demonstrate it`s real power. First one is the funny content linkbaiting instance. Look at this drawing. It`s author is the elementary school girl. The simple picture attracted about 1000000 visitors, who found it through Facebook and Stumbleupon.

The second example is the viral videos listing resource. I guess you understand why it is so popular. But take a note, that the website doesn`t create its own videos, but just gather them through internet.

Talking about link bait I should necessarily mention the Drudge Report by Matt Drudge, whose shocking news attract a lot of readers attention and backlinks as well. By the way Drudge has become the multi-millionaire due to the sensational news on his website.

One more successful linkbaiting example is about flattering articles. Just check Top 25 SEO Blogs and see the backlinks from the thankful listed blogs owners. So sometimes flattery is very very useful.
Still you should remember that the most natural linkbaiting technique is based on the useful content creation. The article about 101 Ways to Build Link Popularity is the brilliant example of this approach.

Sometimes you can find articles that seem to be real masterpieces. They invoke readers to feel something like inspiration. Check this link to see the example.

The next two websites are very convenient online services for webmasters. Meet wordpress themes generator and seobook online tools.

One more linkbaiting strategy is creation of wide area resources with a great number of useful and informative articles on different areas. Check Lifehacker to see the example.

The last in my list is the famous Boingboing. This wiki page will help you to understand the concept of this great web resource and let you know the story of it`s creation.

I hope, that having read this post you may find several new ideas for starting your own linkbaiting.

Thanks for the link baiting tips. Great content always gets comments from all over the internet. But we do have to take the time and effort to create such content. I think we can also use photo sharing sites and forums for link baiting.
