Google real time search – how, why, will it…?


At the moment blogosphere is “trumpeting” about Google Real Time Search. Have you already hear about it? If you haven`t first watch the video above and then get back to this post.

So what is Google real time search? How does it work? In a few words -- the real-time search aggregates the current web stuff concerning user`s query, e.g. Yahoo Answers, Twitter messages, news and returns it among other search results.

What are the Google main purposes of providing this new feature? Certainly -- more, more and more relevance to the search results. They hope that real time search can make a positive impact on the search results relevance. In this case Google will be able to become leader in real-time search niche. Previously Bing and Twitter was the leading ones in this space and now everything is going to change.

Impact on SEO?

There are different opinions about real-time search influence on the traditional SEO, but dominating opinion is that the existing ranking rules aren`t going to change notably. However webmasters get the new instrument of attracting traffic to their websites. Due to real-time search results we may notice the faster growing popularity of social networking, especially with website promoting purposes. So we may suppose that the competition for traffic is going to acquire some real-time component.

My opinion

Of course the Google real time search is a very useful feature, but still it has to be tested by users to define it is really properly implemented. And I hope that the new Google concept will be useful not just for users, but also for internet marketers. So what is your opinion?
