When I was just starting my SEO carrier and created my first blogs, I got very very angry when found spam comments into my Wordpress blog comments approval list. Sometimes I tried to find the ways of punishing spammers, emailed their hosters etc. But I never thought that spam could provide me any benefits. Are you surprised? Yes, I mean that spam sometimes is very useful and now I`m going to show you a little example.
Recently I found the next spam comment on one of my blogs:

You may already guessed that this spammer is working into the pharma niche. The matter is that 3 months ago I also started my “experiments” in this niche and needed to find any websites to become the examples for me. Thus the spammer “presented” his website for me, so I could analyze it and maybe get several useful notes about it`s optimization and linkbuilding strategy.
I started analyzing http://www.buyviagrahere.info/. What was really interesting the website had no pages into Google`s index and at the same time it had PR3. On this page http://www.buyviagrahere.info/online-drugstores.php I found several similar websites with a few pages into Google`s index and also with the high PR. Several of them had PR3 and just about 100 backlinks to the whole domain (by Yahoo). So I decided to check the backlinks for one of them – http://www.buypropecianow.info/. By the way, first I checked it for having fake PR:

The PR was valid so I went on with my investigation.
Analyzing backlinks for http://www.buypropecianow.info/ I found many different link sources. Here are several of them:

Note that http://www.buypropecianow.info/ has pretty good linkbuilding strategy and I didn`t find any spamming backlinks for it. By the way I also studied the scheme of it`s interlinking with other spammer`s websites, analyzing pages like this:
http://www.buypropecianow.info/online-drugstores.php
Thus starting my analysis from the spammy website I found pretty good high PR online drugstore having nospammy linkbuilding strategy (I mean http://www.buypropecianow.info/). And at the moment I know what linkbuilding strategy to use to create the little network of online drugstores. By the way you should note that the spamming example (http://www.buyviagrahere.info/) is already BANNED by Google!!!

Interesting way of learning. I’ve always looked at what the market leader(s) is doing in my niche, but never the spammers. I’ll be more open in the future after reading this.
