site loading speed

Did you hear the Matt Cutts interview where he confirms that site loading speed is going to become the important Google ranking factor in 2010? Thus given equal other factors the faster website will be better ranked.

How do you test your website loading speed? Maybe you just load it in your internet browser and note the time of loading process? But actually it is not the best way, because it provides too inaccurate results. Now I`m going to show you another more convenient and accurate ways of the site loading speed estimation.

Actually there are two major ways: using browser plugins and using special online services. The Firefox plugin I use for loading speed test is Page Speed. It requires Firebug plugin installed. Page Speed provides the accurate information on your website performance and tips for its improvement.

Also you may use online services for estimation of the site loading speed. Below I listed 5 of them.

Site-perf.com – is one of the most detailed and accurate services for website loading analysis. For estimation you may choose one of 3 datacenters based in USA and Holland. The report contains very detailed information illustrated with diagrams.

Tools.pingdom.com – is the great online service for loading speed test. It also provides many diagrams, structured and detailed information on every webpage element loading.

Websiteoptimization.com – is one more useful service giving you report and recommendations on your website pages loading acceleration. Its report is marked with colors: red if the element has negative influence on site loading speed and green if positive.

Iwebtool.com/speed_test – makes it possible the bulk site loading speed test.

Webpagetest.org/test – provides many detailed reports and also the screenshots of your website loading process. Besides it gives you the list of loading files and their loading time.

So now you are able to estimate the speed of your website and improve this ranking factor of your website.
